  2024-12-10

Casein accounts for 80% of the total protein in bovine milk (Capriotti, Cavaliere, Piovesana, Samperi, & Laganà, 2016); hydrolysates or bioactive peptides derived from casein have been employed widely in food as a functional ingredient (Capriotti et al., 2016, Field et al., 2008). Many studies have

  2024-12-10

Axl has been reported to mediate cell-cell adhesion and sphere-growth [11], [18] and to be important for metastasis to secondary organs [12], [14], [20]. We found an Axl-dependent CCRCC-ability of sphere-formation and repopulation after non-adhesive growth. Axl-inhibited cells could not attach to ea

  2024-12-10

Our current knowledge on autophagy broadly differentiates it into three types: macroautophagy, microautophagy, and chaperone-mediated autophagy. Macroautophagy mainly involves the sequestration of cytoplasmic contents in a double-walled membrane followed by the fusion with the lysosomes. The lysosom

Introduction In the past two decades, graphene and graphene based nanomaterials with unique physicochemical properties have attracted great attentions in many fields including biomedicine and biotechnology. Graphene oxide (GO) and its derivatives have shown promising potential as biological and c

  2024-12-10

Since immunoassays cannot specifically quantify each apelin peptide, a more reliable approach, mass spectrometry (MS) has been used recently to quantify and characterize apelin fragments in plasma. Using this technology, Zhen et al. showed that [Pyr-1]-apelin-13 was the major apelin form present in

• Similar studies in Swedish Mutation of APP AD

  2024-12-09

Similar studies in Swedish Mutation of APP AD transgenic mice revealed reduced dynamin 1, AP180, and synaptophysin expression in the hippocampus, particularly prominent in the CA1 and CA4 subfields [19]. These findings imply that Aβ can act not only as a modulator of exocytosis but is a potent regul

  2024-12-09

Despite clear evidence of a causative role for Aβ in AD, Aβ-mediated toxicity alone is insufficient to explain all facets of fully manifested AD. Indeed, a recent report found that two familial AD mutations in PSEN1, PSEN-L435F and PSEN-C410Y, resulted in a dysfunctional protein that does not cleave

Introduction AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) is mainly known as a highly conserved and ubiquitously expressed energy sensor that is highly sensitive to changes in cellular energy levels (by sensing increases in AMP:ATP and ADP:ATP ratios) and makes appropriate adjustment to balance the consumpt

We next developed a system for staging severity. Our guiding principles were the following. Two types of information about the research participant are staged independently from each other: (1) grading disease severity using biomarkers and (2) grading the severity of cognitive impairment. 2024-12-09

AKT1 has been shown to be important for G1-S checkpoint transition and proliferation, whereas AKT2 regulates cell-cycle exit through its interaction with p21 (Héron-Milhavet et al., 2006). In a recent study in triple negative breast cancer, AKT3, rather than AKT1 activity was most important for cell
